Olguin After Meeting with President: Not Enough Progress Made So Far

The Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Maria Angela Holguin, stated that there has not been enough progress in the Cyprus talks so far, particularly regarding Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs). Without progress on CBMs, she believes it will be difficult to convene a broader-based conference on Cyprus. After a meeting with President Christodoulides, Holguin will also meet with the Turkish Cypriot leader Erhurman, hoping for some progress. The discussion at the joint meeting of the two leaders will focus on methodology, specifically the four points Erhurman had put on the table a few months ago. Holguin emphasized that the organization of a 5+1 meeting depends on the progress made between the two leaders on CBMs.
