Former Cypriot President George Vassiliou Hospitalized with Respiratory Infection

Former President of the Republic of Cyprus, George Vassiliou, has been hospitalized at the General Hospital of Nicosia since January 6, 2026, with a respiratory infection, and his condition is considered serious. The Minister of Health, Neofytos Charalambides, was briefed on his health status. Simultaneously, the Holy Synod discussed issues such as Tychikos's appeal to political courts, constitutional changes, and allegations regarding the Avvakoum Monastery.
