Indonesian Authorities Locate Wreckage of Missing Aircraft with 11 People Onboard

An Indonesian Air Transport ATR 42-500 surveillance aircraft went missing in South Sulawesi province, Indonesia. The aircraft lost contact with air traffic control yesterday afternoon while on a fisheries monitoring mission with eight crew members and three passengers. Indonesian authorities today located wreckage near a fog-covered mountain and have launched a search operation for the 11 people onboard. The search is being hampered by the mountainous terrain, fog, and strong winds. The priority is the recovery of victims, with hope for survivors.
