Fuel Prices Exceed 2022 Levels in Cyprus

Fuel prices in Cyprus have surpassed the levels recorded in March 2022, when the previous government reduced consumption tax to curb rising costs. According to the president of the Cyprus Consumers Association, the state is earning an additional 4 cents per liter from fuel sales, which he deems unjustified given the burden on consumers. Mr. Drousiotis is calling for a reduction in consumption tax, as the Anastasiades government did in 2022, when gasoline was €1.443/liter, diesel €1.501/liter, and heating oil €1.026/liter. Today, prices have reached €1.497/liter for gasoline, €1.725/liter for diesel, and €1.195/liter for heating oil, representing a significant increase. The Association expects an immediate announcement of measures from the government.
