Two individuals, a Greek Cypriot and a Greek national, were arrested by the British Bases Police in Dhekelia for the theft of parts worth €10,000 from decommissioned buses. The parts were reportedly intended for sale as scrap metal. The arrests took place in Ormideia, with police finding the two men outside a fenced area where the buses were located. During the inspection, it was confirmed that they were transporting the stolen parts in their vehicle. Deputy Assistant Police Director of Dhekelia, Police Officer Marcos Petrou, stated that the arrest was made possible due to the prompt reaction of officers during patrol, emphasizing that metal theft is a widespread problem. Furthermore, a small amount of Class A drugs was found in their possession, believed to be for personal use. They will appear before the British Bases Court on March 3rd.
