Davos: Stark Speech Draws Attention - Middle Powers at a Crossroads

Canadian Prime Minister Marc Carney delivered a stark speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, arguing that the era of the 'rules-based international order' is over. He emphasized that major powers are using economic interconnectedness as a tool of pressure and called on middle powers, such as Canada, to recognize reality and act collectively. He presented a new Canadian strategy based on 'values-based realism,' which includes strengthening national power and simultaneously expanding international cooperation. Special reference was made to the Arctic and Greenland, expressing Canada's support for Greenland's right to determine its future, as well as the country's commitment to Article 5 of NATO. Carney concluded by calling on middle powers to build strength and act collectively to create a better future.
