Man Dead, Woman Hospitalized in Paphos After Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

A 44-year-old man was found dead in a basement of a restaurant in Paphos, while a 32-year-old woman was rushed to the ICU with serious respiratory problems. The 59-year-old restaurant owner discovered the two individuals unconscious and alerted the police. The 32-year-old woman worked as a domestic helper in a village in Paphos. A metal container with burning charcoal was found in the room where the two were located, which they apparently used for heating. The fumes from the charcoal caused the death of the 44-year-old, while the 32-year-old suffered severe respiratory problems. The cause of death will be determined after an autopsy. Police are investigating the circumstances of the tragic incident, while the 32-year-old is in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of Paphos General Hospital.
