President of DIKO Calls for Effective Compensation Measures for Livestock Farmers

DIKO demands effective measures for the substantial compensation of livestock farmers affected by foot-and-mouth disease, covering both the replacement of animals and lost profits. The President of DIKO, Nikola Papadopoulos, stated that supporting livestock farmers is in the interest of the entire society, as the livestock sector contributes significantly to the Cypriot economy. Papadopoulos mentioned that the vaccination of animals has begun and restrictive measures have been adopted to limit the spread of the disease. However, he stressed that the compensation of livestock farmers is equally important. The meeting took place in Aradippou, with the participation of the Mayor of Aradippou, DIKO MPs, and livestock farmers from the area. The livestock farmers expressed their concerns and suggestions for addressing the problem. Nikola Papadopoulos concluded that supporting livestock farmers is essential for maintaining a healthy livestock sector and continuing its contribution to the Cypriot economy.
