The Republic of Cyprus has accepted Donald Trump's invitation to participate in the Peace Council, to be held in Washington on February 19, 2026, as an observer. Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis stated that Cyprus's participation is part of the active role it plays in the region from the beginning of the Gaza crisis. Cyprus, as a member of the European Union and the closest state to the region, contributes to efforts to stabilize and pacify. The meeting will examine the next steps in implementing the Trump Plan, as adopted by the United Nations Security Council with Resolution 2803. The Republic of Cyprus also participated in the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit, where the President of the Republic submitted a proposal for the implementation of the Peace Plan, regarding its implementation mechanism and regional support. The level of Cyprus's representation will be determined in consultation with the organizers.
