Police Operation Results in 10 Arrests Overnight

The Cyprus Police conducted extensive patrols across the island overnight, aiming to prevent criminal activity, ensure public order, and enhance citizen safety. These operations focused on key urban areas and included vehicle, individual, and premises checks. As a result of the patrols and checks, ten individuals were arrested for a variety of offenses, including theft, carrying a knife, drug possession, driving under the influence of alcohol, and illegal stay on the island. These arrests are part of a broader effort to combat crime and protect citizens. In total, 500 vehicles and 713 occupants were checked during the night. Additionally, 28 premises were inspected to address delinquency. These checks aimed to deter and suppress criminal activity. Traffic checks resulted in 211 reports for various traffic violations, as well as 16 investigated cases. Eight vehicles were also impounded. Of the reports, 76 concerned speeding. 153 checks were carried out for driving under the influence of alcohol with 2 positive reports, and 2 checks for driving under the influence of drugs with positive preliminary results.
