New Round of Iran-US Talks: Abbas Araghchi in Geneva

Iran’s Foreign Minister departed today for Geneva, where a new round of talks on the nuclear issue with the United States is scheduled, the ministry announced. Abbas Araghchi “left Tehran for Geneva (...) heading a diplomatic and technical delegation to conduct the second round of negotiations on the nuclear issue and to hold a series of diplomatic consultations,” the statement said, clarifying that these “indirect” talks will take place on Tuesday under the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman. In the same statement, it is mentioned that the Iranian Foreign Minister will meet with the Foreign Minister of Oman and with the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The same announcement stresses that the second round of negotiations underlines the continued effort to restore diplomacy and to avoid further escalation of tensions in the region.
