Yellow Warning Issued for Heavy Storms

The Meteorology Department has issued a new yellow warning for heavy storms expected to affect Cyprus. The warning will be in effect from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The intensity of the rain is expected to range between 35 and 50 millimeters, with the possibility of hail. The storms will start from the coastal and mountainous areas and gradually extend to all regions. Snow or sleet is expected on the highest peaks of Troodos. Winds will be southwesterly to westerly, moderate to strong, with temporary reinforcements. The sea will be rough and occasionally very rough. The temperature will rise to around 17 degrees Celsius inland and on the coast, while in the mountains it will reach 6 degrees Celsius. The snow height at Chionistra is already 21 centimeters. The warning also covers Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, with the possibility of hail and snow in the mountains.
