Published January 26, 2026, 09:01

A new European initiative, the MICROIDEA project, aims to upgrade the profession of waiter in Cyprus through the introduction of innovative micro-credentials and certified training. The project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ program, seeks to address skill gaps and limited professional development opportunities in the hospitality sector. MICROIDEA is developing an educational program based on micro-credentials, combining theoretical training, practical experience, and certification according to international standards. In Cyprus, the pilot implementation is undertaken by Eurosuccess Consulting and the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI). The certification will be carried out by TÜV Hellas, ensuring reliability and recognition at the European level. The program aims to cover critical gaps in the Cypriot hospitality industry, offering skills upgrading and professional training, enhancing the prospects of employees, and supporting businesses. The educational implementation is undertaken by Phanos Leventis, Loizos Sourouppis, and Christina Savvidou, established professionals in the field. The project aspires to lay the foundations for a more modern and sustainable future for the hospitality sector in Cyprus.
