No Admission of Guilt from Metropolitan and Monk in Data Breach Case

Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamasos and Oreini and Monk Varnavas have denied the charges against them for alleged violation of personal data. The case concerns the leak of video footage from cameras installed at the Holy Monastery of Osios Avvakoum in Fterikoudi. The hearing has been rescheduled for May 12, 2026, when the charges will be examined on their merits. The prosecuting Authority has summoned three witnesses, who are the investigators of the case. The investigation began following inquiries by the former Personal Data Protection Commissioner, Irene Loizidou Nikolaidou, regarding the leak of video from areas of the Monastery that should not have been recorded.
