Russia Attacks Kyiv with Oreshnik Missile: 'Retaliation for Strike on Putin's Residence'

Russia confirmed it launched a large-scale overnight attack on Ukraine, using the Oreshnik hypersonic missile system among other weapons, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense and TASS agency. Four people were killed and 19 injured in Kyiv as a result of the attack, while explosions were also reported in Lviv, targeting critical infrastructure. Russia claims the attack's targets were drone production facilities and energy infrastructure supporting Ukraine's military-industrial complex. Kyiv denies targeting Putin's residence and has accused Russia of provocation. The Oreshnik missile, first used by Russia in November 2024, is a hypersonic medium-range ballistic missile (up to 5,500 kilometers) capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.
