Cyprus Bound by International Agreement Regarding Simon Aykut's Transfer to Israel

The Minister of Justice, Kostas Fytiris, confirmed that Cyprus is obligated to comply with the international agreement for the transfer of convicted individuals to their country of origin, referring to Israel's request for Simon Aykut, who was convicted of the appropriation of Greek Cypriot properties. The Minister stated that Israel recognizes the appropriation and has issued a directive to its citizens not to purchase properties in occupied territories. However, the decision is made based on the public interest, taking into account that Aykut may be released soon due to his age. Cyprus has already approved 15 similar requests from other countries.
