Cyprus: Pension Reform Bill Expected by June, Collective Bargaining Bill by March

The Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Marinos Mousiouttas, announced that the government aims to submit a pension reform bill by June 2026. The bill will concern the first pillar of the pension system, namely pension benefits. Simultaneously, the government seeks to submit a bill on collective bargaining by the end of February/early March, aiming for it to cover 80% of employees, compared to the current 40-45%. Additional clarifications have been requested by stakeholders regarding the pension bill, leading to a postponement of its submission. The bill will include issues such as the low-income pension allowance, the investment policy of the Social Insurance Fund, and the 12% penalty.
