Middle East: Over 20 Countries 'Ready to Contribute Efforts' to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

Over 20 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Britain, France, Canada, and Japan, have stated today that they are “ready to contribute efforts” needed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which has been effectively blocked by Iran since the start of the war in the Middle East. In a joint statement, these countries, mainly European, also condemned recent Iranian attacks targeting ships and oil and gas infrastructure, demanding an “immediate and global moratorium on attacks on civilian infrastructure.” Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, and other European countries, as well as South Korea, Australia, and Bahrain, are also signing the statement. This move represents a strong response to Iranian aggression and an effort to ensure freedom of navigation in the region. The situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains tense, as it is a critical route for global oil and gas trade.
