Louvre: €10 Million Ticket Fraud Scheme – 9 Arrests, Including Guides and Museum Employees – Room Flooded with 15th and 16th Century Paintings

French authorities have arrested nine people in connection with an alleged ticket fraud scheme at the Louvre Museum, with damages estimated at €10 million. Among those arrested are two museum employees and guides reportedly involved in an organized network. The fraud allegedly involved the reuse of tickets, particularly with tourist groups from China. The case comes during a period of tension for the Louvre, following a recent robbery in which jewels worth €88 million were stolen. Museum management reports an increase in ticket fraud incidents and has implemented a plan to combat them. Investigators found that the guides allegedly collected money to bypass ticket checks, with some allegedly having accomplices within the museum. The investigation is examining potential investments of illegal proceeds in real estate in France and Dubai. Separately, a water leak occurred in the Denon gallery, where artworks are displayed, without the extent of the damage being calculated at present. This case highlights the need to enhance security and supervision at the Louvre Museum and the need for effective measures to prevent and combat fraud.
