Cyprus Closely Monitors Developments in the Middle East

The Republic of Cyprus is closely monitoring developments in the wider Middle East region and its state mechanisms are in constant coordination. The National Security Council (NSC) convened to assess the situation and remains in continuous session. Cyprus is also in constant communication and coordination with partners and cooperating states, including the EU, and exchanging information with countries in the region. The ESTIA National Plan has been activated to potentially accommodate and safely evacuate citizens of third countries, while increased security measures have been implemented. The government is in constant contact with Cypriot diplomatic missions in the region to monitor the situation of Cypriot citizens and provide consular assistance where needed. Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis stressed the importance of proactive readiness and cooperation with other countries. Cyprus is closely monitoring the situation and is ready to face any challenges that may arise from the instability in the region. Citizens are encouraged to register on the connect2cy platform to facilitate communication and assistance in case of need. The Government assures that all necessary measures are being taken to protect citizens and ensure the country's safety.
