Limassol: Attempted Murder Case Involving a 7-Year-Old Under Investigation

The Limassol TAE (Serious Crimes Unit) is investigating an attempted murder case involving a 7-year-old child. Authorities report that the child's mother allegedly administered sedatives to the child, resulting in hospitalization at a private hospital. The child has since been discharged and is in good health. The mother, after examination by a government doctor, is also hospitalized and has been charged with attempted murder. The case came to light when the woman's husband found both of them unconscious at home and transported them to the hospital. Police discovered that the mother had used sedative pills, which she also gave to her child. The police are conducting an investigation with discretion and in cooperation with the Social Welfare Services. Limassol Assistant Police Director Lefteris Kyriacou stated that the police are handling the case with sensitivity and expect to complete the file to submit it to the Legal Service for further opinion. The investigation focuses on the mother's motives and the circumstances under which the sedatives were administered to the child. The case has shocked the local community and raised questions about the mother's mental health and the need for support for families facing difficulties. Authorities emphasize the importance of early intervention and the protection of children.
