Lebanon: Death Toll from Israeli Strikes Rises to 217

The death toll from ongoing Israeli strikes against Lebanon since Monday has risen to 217, with 798 injured, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on Friday. This figure is an increase from the previous toll published yesterday, which reported 123 deaths and 683 injuries. The escalation of the conflict began on Monday, when Lebanon became involved in the regional war with Iran, following Hezbollah's attack on Israel and Israel's subsequent response with massive strikes. Hezbollah warned Israelis to evacuate areas within five kilometers of the border with Lebanon, a day after Israel told residents of southern Beirut suburbs to leave their homes. The organization justified the warning with the deployment of military vehicles by the Israeli army in open areas.
