Lebanon: Israeli Strikes Hit Heart of Beirut

The Israeli military launched extensive strikes on Beirut and other areas of Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 people and injuries to 41. The attacks also targeted the director of political content for the Al Manar television network, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, who was killed along with his wife. The strikes hit densely populated neighborhoods, causing widespread damage and displacing residents. Hezbollah is accused of escalating tensions by launching attacks against Israel on March 2, leading to a large-scale Israeli air strike campaign. Israeli strikes have caused the deaths of at least 912 people, including 111 children, and have displaced over one million people, more than a sixth of Lebanon's population. In Sidon, a strike against a car killed two people, including a rescuer. In Tyre, an evacuation order caused panic and hundreds of families fled the city. The Israeli military announced that it continues to target "terrorist targets" in Lebanon, while the situation remains tense and the humanitarian crisis is worsening.
