Larnaca: Charges Filed Against Two Businessmen Following Violent Incidents

Two businessmen, aged 47 and 43, have been charged and will be tried for interfering with a judicial process and conspiracy. The 47-year-old is additionally charged with illegal possession of property, as €103,915 and 42 checks worth €560,000, believed to be proceeds of theft, were found in his office. They were released on bail of €80,000 each, with restrictions on leaving the country and a requirement to report to a police station. The charges relate to attempts to persuade the complainant in the case to change his testimony, four days after the incidents. The complainant is the owner of the car rental company that was attacked by a criminal gang for protection money, and retaliated along with others. In a separate case, a 48-year-old Cypriot will be tried as the leader of the criminal gang, along with four foreigners who participated in the attack on the car rental company. The case is ongoing and is expected to go to trial in March 2026.
