Istanbul Building Collapse: Explosion Caused by Natural Gas, Rescue Efforts Underway

An explosion caused by natural gas led to the collapse of two three-story buildings in the Fatih district of Istanbul on the last day of Bayram. According to Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, a total of nine people were trapped under the rubble. So far, eight people have been rescued with injuries, while efforts to locate and rescue the ninth person continue. The explosion occurred in the Aivansaray neighborhood, on Embe Street, and mobilized strong forces from the fire department, civil protection (AFAD), and the police. Seven of the injured were taken to hospital without being in life-threatening condition. The governor stated that the priority is to rescue the trapped people and provide medical care. Authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the explosion, while increased security measures have been taken in the area. According to the governor's announcement, the explosion occurred around 12:00 pm. The collapse of the two buildings caused concern among residents of the area, while authorities are trying to restore normalcy.
