Cyprus Talks: UN Envoy Holds Separate Meetings with Christodoulides and Erhurman

The Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Cyprus, Maria Angela Holguin, is currently in Cyprus to meet with President Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Erhurman. The meetings, which took place today, aim to restart talks on the Cyprus issue. Ms. Holguin first met with President Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace and then with Mr. Erhurman. Previously, she had met with the negotiators of the two communities to prepare the ground for these meetings and the upcoming joint meeting on January 28th, which is a continuation of the meeting held on December 11th, 2025. President Christodoulides has expressed his desire for a broad-based conference to be convened, leading to the official announcement of the resumption of substantial negotiations. Ms. Holguin is expected to remain in Cyprus until January 29th.
