Land Registry: €18.5 Million in Uncollected Revenue and Thousands of Pending Applications

The Parliamentary Committee on Control examined the Auditor General's Report on the Department of Lands and Surveys, finding serious weaknesses, such as €18.5 million in uncollected revenue, thousands of pending applications for the lease of state land (approximately 8000 as of mid-2025), and delays in the execution of activities. In addition, illegal leases of state land and the use of private land for seizures without legal order were identified. The Committee criticized the understaffing of the Department, while the Director of the Department defended the transparency of its actions.
