Kremlin Condemns “Suffocating Methods” of the US

The Kremlin condemned the “suffocating methods” of the US, following Cuba's announcement of a kerosene shortage due to the energy crisis caused by the termination of its oil supply from Venezuela under pressure from Washington. Russia expressed concern over the critical situation in Cuba and its willingness to offer assistance. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the suffocating methods of the US are causing difficulties in Cuba and that Russia is in contact with Cuban authorities for possible solutions and assistance. Cuba is facing a severe energy crisis after the termination of oil supplies from Venezuela due to US pressure and threats of imposing customs duties on countries that supply it. The Cuban government has announced emergency measures, such as a four-day work week and teleworking. The situation worsened after the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and the signing of a decree by Donald Trump for the possible imposition of tariffs on countries that sell oil to Cuba.
