Colombia: Program to Acquire Anti-Drone 'Shield' Worth $1.7 Billion

Colombia is launching a $1.68 billion arms program to acquire an 'shield' against drones, aiming to protect security forces from unmanned aerial vehicles used by armed groups. The program will be implemented in phases, with a budget of $271.1 million for the first phase. So far, 264 drone attacks have been recorded since 2024, mainly in areas with coca crops, resulting in 15 deaths and 153 injuries. At the same time, Colombia has already signed an agreement to purchase 17 Gripen fighter jets from Sweden.
