Shared Cultural Identities: Cyprus and Italy Inaugurate Archaeological Exhibition in Rome

The exhibition “Cyprus and Italy: Shared Cultural Identities at the Dawn of History,” inaugurated in Rome by Presidents Christodoulides and Mattarella, presents the common cultural heritage of Cyprus and Italy through 120 archaeological artifacts. The exhibition covers a period of seven millennia of Mediterranean history, highlighting the exchange of goods and technology, as demonstrated by a bronze talent from Sardinia, made from Cypriot copper. The organization of the exhibition and Italian archaeological missions in Cyprus underscore both countries' commitment to preserving cultural heritage and strengthening bilateral relations in various fields, such as security, energy, and tourism. The exhibition is a joint undertaking that strengthens the already strong ties between Cyprus and Italy. Furthermore, the exhibition reflects the core values of the European Union and the cultural vision of the Cypriot Presidency, which aims to strengthen ties within the EU through culture. Culture is considered a key tool for political cohesion and an expression of common European identity. The exhibition will be open until June 30, 2026, and is co-organized by the Cypriot Presidency, the Cypriot Deputy Ministry of Culture, and the Italian Ministry of Culture. The inauguration was attended by representatives of the European Commission, the Italian government, and prominent Cypriot officials.
