Fuel Prices Surge in Cyprus – Largest Increase in Three Years

A significant increase in fuel prices was recorded in Cyprus on Thursday, March 26th, with prices rising by 20.3 cents per liter for gasoline, 35 cents for diesel, and 28 cents for heating oil. This is the largest daily increase in the last three years, according to the President of the Cyprus Consumers Association (CCA), Marios Drousiotis. This increase does not appear to be linked to the war in the Middle East, as the small increases in essential goods observed through the e-kalathi are minor. However, further increases in essential goods may occur in May. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has also become more expensive, following the trend of fuel prices, with a 10kg cylinder increasing from €18.5 to €24.5-€25. From April 1st, there will be a reduction in the special consumption tax on fuels, by 8.3 cents per liter for gasoline and diesel, and by 6.2 cents per liter for heating oil.
