Fuel Sales Increase by 3.5% in January

Fuel sales from petrol stations increased by 3.5% in January, reaching 58,500 tons, according to the Statistical Service. A significant increase was also recorded in oil supplies to ships (175.3%) and airplanes (23.2%), as well as in sales of heating oil (25.2%), LPG (13.4%) and asphalt (13.2%). Conversely, sales of light and heavy fuel oil decreased (-62.3% and -12.1% respectively) and gas oil (-1.6%), while gasoline sales remained almost unchanged (+0.3%). In total, petroleum product sales reached 118,460 tons, an increase of 11.2% compared to January of the previous year. However, on a monthly basis, total sales fell by 3.9% compared to December. The decrease mainly concerns oil supplies to airplanes (-10.0%), gasoline sales (-13.1%) and gas oil (-11.9%), while supplies to ships increased (15.6%). Finally, total petroleum product stocks at the end of January decreased by 33.0% compared to the previous month.
