Anti-Corruption Authority Responds to Lawyer Regarding Alleged Targeting

The Independent Authority Against Corruption has responded to the lawyer of the former director of the Department of Fisheries, rejecting her request for an immediate review of the announcement regarding potential criminal liabilities. The Authority clarifies that it did not describe her client as “guilty” and that the announcement refers to “possible” criminal liabilities, in accordance with the legal framework. It points out that the publication of the lawyer's letter obliges it to publish its own response. The Authority emphasizes that there was no intention of targeting and that all three individuals considered Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) were named. It highlights the obligation to inform the public in cases involving PEPs and concludes that the request for review cannot be accepted.
