Israel Accused of Using 'Illegal' White Phosphorus Munitions

Human Rights Watch (HRW) accuses the Israeli army of using 'illegal' white phosphorus munitions in populated areas of southern Lebanon, following the resumption of clashes with Hezbollah. HRW states that it has confirmed the explosion of white phosphorus munitions over a residential area and expresses concern about the serious consequences for civilians. The use of such munitions is considered illegal when used as incendiary weapons, as they cause severe burns and other injuries. HRW calls on Israel to stop this practice and states that supply countries should suspend military aid.
