Trade Deficit Increased by €606 Million in 2025

Cyprus's trade deficit increased by €606 million in 2025, reaching €8 billion. This increase is mainly due to a significant rise in imports, which amounted to almost €1 billion. Total imports for 2025 reached €13.55 billion, an increase of 7.7%, while exports amounted to €5.55 billion, with an increase of 7.0%. In December 2025, imports decreased by 13.1% to €1.2044 billion, while exports increased by 30.5% to €490.5 million. The decrease in imports is partly due to reduced transfers of ship ownership. The final figures for November 2025 show a decrease in imports by 10.1% to €1.0439 billion, while exports increased by 16.1% to €283.9 million. The increase in exports is mainly due to domestically produced goods. Overall, the data show increased trade activity, but also a deterioration of the trade balance due to the faster increase in imports compared to exports.
