Cyprus Police's Decisive Contribution to Dismantling Child Sexual Abuse Case in the US – 53-Year-Old Sentenced to 12 Years

Cyprus Police played a decisive role in dismantling a child sexual abuse case in the US, leading to the conviction of a 53-year-old to 12 years in prison. The case began in 2020 when the Cybercrime Unit received information about the suspect, who resided in the US and had a large number of victims in various states. After informing the US authorities, the FBI New York took over the investigation, in close cooperation with Cypriot investigators. The investigations led to the identification and location of more victims, aged 13-17. The 53-year-old was arrested and sentenced to 12 years in prison without the possibility of early release by a US court on January 29, 2026. The case highlights the importance of international cooperation in tackling the cross-border crime of child sexual abuse. Cyprus Police emphasizes that the safety and protection of children is an absolute priority and will continue to contribute to the administration of justice in such cases.
