Yellow Alert for Severe Storms and Hail

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for severe thunderstorms and hail expected to affect the island, mainly in inland areas, from 11:00 to 17:00. Rainfall intensity will range between 35 and 50 millimeters per hour, with the possibility of hail. The weather will be partly cloudy with a chance of rain, but by noon and early afternoon, cloudiness will prevail with local showers and thunderstorms. Snow or sleet is expected on the higher peaks of Troodos. Winds will be southwesterly to westerly, light to moderate, while the sea will be slightly rough. The temperature will reach 19 degrees Celsius inland and on the coast, and 5 degrees Celsius in the mountains. In the evening, the weather will be partly cloudy with a chance of isolated showers on the coast, and the temperature will drop to 5 degrees Celsius inland and 1 degree Celsius in the mountains, where frost is expected.
