University of Cyprus Library Celebrates Seven Years as a Hub of Knowledge

The University of Cyprus Library, specifically the Stelios Ioannou Information Center – Library, is celebrating seven years of operation. The library has evolved into a fundamental infrastructure for education and research in Cyprus, boasting the largest scientific collection in the country, covering all major fields of knowledge. Its collection has seen significant growth in both print and electronic materials. The library features advanced building and technological infrastructure, as well as a high degree of automation, facilitating access to information for students, researchers, and the general public. It supports academic teaching, research activities, and the creation of new knowledge. The history of the library began in 1992, concurrently with the founding of the University of Cyprus. Initially housed in the premises of the Pedagogical Academy, it gradually expanded and moved to the new University Campus, with the construction of the modern “Stelios Ioannou” building made possible through a donation from the Ioannou family and co-financing from European funds. The library continues to evolve and provide high-level services to the academic community and society.
