“It’s Cold Out There”: Emery’s Remark for Not Shaking Arteta’s Hand (VIDEO)

Unai Emery, manager of Aston Villa, caused a stir after his team's 4-1 defeat to Arsenal, as he refused to shake hands with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and immediately headed to the dressing rooms. This move was widely commented on by the media and fans. When asked about his refusal to exchange handshakes with Arteta, Emery replied with a disarming statement: “It’s cold out there!”. He explained that his routine after matches is always quick and that he simply wanted to avoid a prolonged conversation with the opposing coach. However, his answer was seen by many as an attempt to justify rudeness. Aston Villa conceded all four of Arsenal's goals in the second half, after a level first half. This defeat leaves them 6 points behind the league leaders. Emery admitted that his team failed to capitalize on the opportunities presented to them and that Arsenal were superior in the second half.
