Equality Union Requests Payroll Software Adjustment for Tax Relief

The Pan Cypriot Union Equality has sent a letter to the Accountant General of the Republic, Andreas Antoniades, requesting an adjustment to the payroll software to incorporate the new tax relief measures provided for in the 2025 law. The union wants the relief to have an immediate impact on the disposable income of civil servants. Equality argues that failing to take personal deductions into account when calculating income tax will lead to a temporary reduction in liquidity for families in need. It considers it fair for the actual tax capacity of each employee to be reflected in the tax calculation. Furthermore, the union asks the Accountant General to recommend similar adjustments to the accounting departments of Public Law Organizations, thus ensuring the uniform application of a fair policy throughout the public sector. Equality seeks to ensure that civil servants fully benefit from the tax relief measures, increasing their net income each month.
