Iran Issues Ultimatum to Trump: Desalination Plants Will Be Targeted. Threatens Humanitarian Disaster

Iran has responded to threats from Donald Trump regarding attacks on its energy infrastructure by threatening reciprocal attacks on energy infrastructure, IT systems, and desalination plants belonging to the United States and Israel in the region. The reference to desalination plants is considered a form of blackmail against the Arab countries of the Gulf, which are almost entirely dependent on them for their drinking water supply, making an attack on them a humanitarian disaster. This Iranian response comes as a reply to Trump's 48-hour ultimatum demanding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Simultaneously, Iran threatens massive cyberattacks against banks and energy networks of the US and its allies. The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Bakai, stated that self-restraint from Iran is not expected as long as air strikes continue against it, and that Tehran will only respond when the attacks cease. Iran has already retaliated against US-Israeli attacks by striking cities in southern Israel, such as Dimona (home to the nuclear research center) and Arad, causing injuries. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of an increase in attacks against Iran this week.
