Holy Synod: Decisions Regarding Abbakum Monastery Monks, Marriages, and Holy Week

The Holy Synod concluded an emergency meeting during which important decisions were made. It was decided to restructure the Statutory Charter of the Church of Cyprus due to ambiguities and difficulties in its implementation, and the locum tenens of the Archbishop in the Metropolis of Paphos was extended until the drafting of the new charter. Additionally, the Synod informed that the sacraments performed by the defrocked monks of the Abbakum Monastery are invalid. It was also decided to allow the celebration of marriages during the Christmas fast until December 12th, and to add a supplicatory hymn for the Cyprus issue to the three stations of the Lamentations of Holy Week.
