Mourning in Elassona for Former Boxer, Dies in Car Accident

Elassona is plunged into mourning following the death of 70-year-old Nikos Sidiropoulos, a renowned former boxer, in a tragic car accident on the Elassona – Kozani National Road, near the Lykoudi bridge. The accident occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 24th, when two vehicles collided head-on for reasons that remain under investigation. Nikos Sidiropoulos was a well-known and beloved figure in Elassona, of refugee descent and a long-time resident of the Agios Spyridon neighborhood. He worked for many years as a painter, earning the respect of the local community for his work ethic and character. The news of his death has caused deep sorrow in the area. Alongside his professional activity, the deceased had excelled in the past as a boxing athlete, winning numerous titles and maintaining the love of younger generations for the sport. He was an iconic figure for the region, known for his achievements and contribution to local sports. Two other people were slightly injured in the car accident and were transported to the Elassona Health Center. The Elassona Fire Department, with six personnel and three vehicles, worked to extricate Nikos Sidiropoulos, who had unfortunately already lost his life. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident to determine the cause of the collision.
