Cypriot Theatre Mourns the Loss of Set Designer Kostas Kavkaridis

The Cypriot theatre community is deeply saddened by the passing of set designer, painter, and costume designer Kostas Kavkaridis, at the age of 80. Kavkaridis was one of the most important figures in modern Cypriot theatre, with a long and distinguished career in the arts. Born in Pallouriotissa in 1945, he grew up in a family deeply connected to the theatre, being the brother of actors and theatre professionals Stelios and Vladimir Kavkaridis. His artistic journey was rich and multifaceted. In addition to set and costume design, he was involved in writing educational books, painting, and editing the magazine 'Epi Skini'. He was also a teacher of set and costume design, passing on his love for the art to younger generations. His family, friends, and colleagues will remember him for his kindness, politeness, and smile.
