Legislative Framework Established for the Regulation of Establishment/Operation of Imaging Centers

The Parliament has voted on a legislative framework for regulating the establishment and operation of imaging centers, as well as their control and supervision. The framework includes new terms and definitions, such as “administrative manager,” “regular working hours,” and “dose management system (DMS).” The submission of an organizational chart and staff list is required for licensing, as well as the presence of a scientifically responsible doctor with two years of experience. Each center must have a DMS to record radiation doses and provide early warning of exceedances, with annual quality control and data retention for ten years. The competent authority gains enhanced powers of control, including the revocation of the operating license in case of violation or false statements. It is mandatory to inform patients in case of revocation of the center’s operating license, so that their service can be arranged by another center. The legislative framework is aligned with the provisions of the Private Hospitals Law.
