The Anastasiades-Cameron Agreement on British Bases

The agreement concluded between Nikos Anastasiades and David Cameron in 2014 regarding the British Bases in Cyprus is back in the spotlight due to current geopolitical developments. This agreement allowed for economic and tourist development in areas within the Bases, as well as the utilization of property owners' assets. Its implementation began in 2022 and led to a change in land use in approximately 80% of the Bases' area, benefiting four municipalities and 23 communities. The agreement is considered the largest urban change in Cyprus and gave property owners within the Bases the same rights as those outside the Bases.
