US Submarine Torpedoes Iranian Frigate

An Iranian warship, the Iris Dena frigate, was sunk by a US submarine off the southern coast of Sri Lanka, in a serious naval incident escalating tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran. The attack was carried out with a heavy Mark 48 torpedo and resulted in the deaths of at least 87 Iranian sailors, while 32 crew members were rescued. The ship, carrying approximately 180 people, was returning from a naval exercise in India. The US confirmed the attack, calling it a “decisive strike” and releasing video of the moment the torpedo hit.
