Poland Plans to Ban Social Media for Users Under 15

Poland is planning to ban the use of social media for children under 15, with the government holding platforms responsible for verifying user ages. Education Minister Barbara Nowacka stated that the bill will include fines for non-compliant platforms and is expected to be implemented by early 2027. This move is based on concerns about the mental health and cognitive abilities of children, as well as the addictive nature of social media. Several other European countries are considering similar restrictions. Poland is expected to face opposition from American tech companies.
