Norway Won't Join Trump's 'Peace Council,' UAE and Hungary Positive

Norway will not participate in the 'Peace Council' initiative proposed by former US President Donald Trump, as stated by the country's Deputy Foreign Minister, Andreas Motzfeldt. In contrast, the United Arab Emirates and Hungary have accepted Trump's invitation. The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not made further comment. The UAE expressed its readiness to contribute actively to the Council's mission, emphasizing its support for Washington's new conflict resolution effort. The UAE's acceptance comes at a time when governments around the world are reacting cautiously to Trump's plan, which begins with the conflict in Gaza and aims to address other conflicts. Some leaders, such as Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Canadian Prime Minister Mike Carney, have offered ambiguous responses. The inclusion of a 'charter' in the invitation letter has raised concerns among some European governments, as it could undermine the work of the United Nations. According to the plan, Donald Trump will be the council's lifetime president, while member states will have three-year terms unless they pay one billion dollars to secure a permanent seat.
