Cyprus's Priorities for EU Presidency Presented to European Parliament

The Deputy Minister of Culture, Lina Kassianidou, is presenting the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU for 2026 to the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) of the European Parliament, as part of a working visit to Brussels. The presentation focuses on the Presidency's Cultural Programme and includes discussions on the AgoraEU Programme, the promotion of the Culture Compass for Europe, and the EU Work Plan for Culture. The visit's program includes the opening of an art exhibition that will adorn the buildings of the Council of the EU during the Cypriot Presidency, curated by Michalis Anastasiades and featuring Cypriot artists such as Cleo Hadjigeorgiou, Penelope Ioannou, and others. Anastasiades will present the rationale behind the exhibition. The Deputy Minister will also address the issue of the European Capitals of Culture and the European Democracy Shield, with an emphasis on strengthening media literacy. She will also attend the opening of the exhibition "Nicosia International Airport" by Andros Eustathiou and an exhibition of works from the European Parliament's collection. The visit also includes bilateral meetings with European Parliament officials, with the Deputy Minister expected to return to Cyprus on Wednesday, January 28th. The aim of the visit is to promote Cyprus's cultural priorities during its Presidency of the Council of the EU.
